Group Story Exercise 1

About

This is a creative exercise to sharpen your skills. So lets have fun and learn.

How this exercise works is I'm going to set a need (dilemma) and some rules (limitations) for a character and you need to carry the story to completion.

Need

Eric is a banker but he is tired working in the penny rolling department. He wants to become a premium associate investor consultant to make his father proud. However he'll have to overcome is twin brother who overshadows him in everything he does. (his twin brother is named Rick and is a bank teller)

Rules

Eric has an obsession with beanie babies

Rick gives misleading information

Eric compulsively apologizes

The bank will catch fire

There isn't any gravity

You can only post one caption and image per post and you need to wait till someone else posts before contributing more.

Supplied Images

You can use one of the following images to go along with a caption.

Manipulate them however you will if you have the graphics skills but a caption will do.

Help

If you need help knowing how to post an image in a comment or want to change the graphics but don't know how, add me as contact, send me a message and I'll do what I can or watch this lesson I made on how to add images to comments

I’ve created a lesson on How to: add images to comments. Currently you can’t embed videos into comments and other areas on LearnHub.

This isn’t place to ask that question but the Support Community. It takes away from the context of this lesson. and I’ve already posted about what your asking in the Support Community

Interesting idea. The image manipulation is creative too ! This lesson can have many variations. Thanks for sharing this.

Hey hi andrew… actually am a literature student in India…and this post was in creative writing community…i thought it would be something to do with how to improve your skills in writing or even an example of how a story proceeds…..but your profile reads you are a multimedia student…and your exercise seems more to do with graphics…which i guess is not much to do with creative writing …coz none of the posts seem to tell a story….l i would say nice work…!!and do correct if am wrong…would love to improve.. keep up!!

The lesson isn’t miscategorized, my target audience wasn’t academic literature students. Its all about the intention of the lesson. The goal is to encourage visual learners to develop their creating writing skills, using a known skill they already have.

This lesson has everything to do with story telling and creative writing.

I’ve defined the 1. YOU and the 2. NEED to give a starting block for the story.

I’ve set limitations so you can come up with creative solutions. Its not ‘creative captions’. The images are all related to propel a story forward.

Creative writing doesn’t have to involve loads of boring text.
